Thursday June 21st, 2018 , Bohemia proudly presents..
An exploration of sumptuous pop melodies and guitar amongst earnest, heart-aching lyrics, Liroy is the one-woman creation of Liz Pomeroy, former front woman of Burning Daisy. The Calgary Herald describing her earlier performances as a "sizzling stage presence [with] sultry Shirley Manson voice, Liz has now added guitar to her solo performances. Following a successful opening slot for X92.9's Exposure Show Whale And The Wolf in Calgary's Gateway, this performance will launch her Irish/U.K tour.
Orginally from Ireland, Liz formed Burning Daisy in 2011, the band earworming its way onto the [local] music scene with immediate success. Presenting a "Burlesque rock and stage show theatric" that fans came to adore, Burning Daisy's final single, Cuz I Said So, was described as "excellent and anthemic" by music reviewer Mike Bell.
The band was put on hiatus when Liz relocated to Edmonton, Alberta in order to complete a music diploma at Grant MacEwan University. She forges the brooding melancholy Burning Daisy embodied to fresh, light-seeking sounds. In recent years the artist has become a zero-waste living advocate, which as informed her song-writing style and led to the creation of protest lyrics in her latest work. These heavy topics are contrasted by catchy pop melodies; creating a sense of irony and rebelliousness on stage. This is Liroy.
YYCMA nominee, Lisette Xavier is your average 20 something year old, sarcastic, puppy loving vegan who is probably eating chocolate right now. Her music combines infectious top 40 style production with emotionally driven lyrics. Her recent genre melding has combined the alternative singer-songwriters roots with dance pop; making listeners involuntarily move while feeling all the feels.
Cypress is an indie pop band from Edmonton Alberta. Pulling inspiration from Coldplay, Radiohead and the Arkells, Cypress creates a chill retrospective atmosphere perfect for cruising down the highway with your windows down. With Andrea Shipka on Vocals, Charles Pickard on Guitar, Kelsey Wood on Base, John Couture on Drums and Steven Badry on guitar they generate a unique sound you really cant miss out on
