Ty Fletcher and The Northbank Stranglers
Growing up among the wheat fields and the kind handshakes of small town Alberta, Tyler James Fletcher, Scott Melnyk, Logan Thorpe, Brianne Thompson and Layne Eaton play a style of music that reflects their humble, small town upbringing; songs of camaraderie, love and hardship. Each bringing their own diverse musical influences to the table, the Stranglers’ sound can be described as a mixture of classic country and southern rock with an undeniable punk rock energy.
Having recorded their debut EP titled Born To Lose, in November of 2013, the Northbank Stranglers will be starting 2014 with a full head of steam and a winning hand. The album includes such songs as the rocking title track, a thumping hard luck story with an irresistible chorus and enough lyrical hooks to draw in even the toughest of critics. The epic warm weather lament, Summer Wind displays a sensitive side to the group and showcases Fletchers strong, deep baritone voice. Beg, Steal or Borrow takes a rootsy twist with some dirty acoustic strumming, a swampy fiddle and some tasty slide guitar.
Ty Fletcher and the Northbank Stranglers have a foot stomping small town charm that you will find hard not to fall in love with. You can find them at the local bars strumming their beat up old guitars and gazing out toward that dusty horizon. Catch ‘em if you can!
