Carmen Lucia

Carmen Lucia is a soulful R&B Singer/Songwriter based in Edmonton, Alberta. Born and raised in the small town of Bonnyville, Alberta, she came from a very musical family with a wide range of musical tastes. She was influenced by all sorts of genres including R&B, Soul, Hiphop, Rock, Blues, Folk, and Country. Music has always been an important part of her life; she started playing and writing in her early teens as an emotional outlet and this connection to music has followed her ever since. Growing up, she taught herself the basics on piano and for the most part, relied on her karaoke machine (and her ear) to teach her how to sing. September 2008, she decided to expand her musical knowledge and moved to Edmonton to attend the Grant MacEwan University Music Program focusing on Jazz & Contemporary/Popular Music. She completed the program with two diplomas: one majoring in Vocal Performance and one majoring in Composition.
Carmen Lucia is a soulful experience, connecting a mixture of all of her influences including, Joss Stone, Brandi Carlile, Susan Tedeschi, Whitney Houston, Adele, India Arie, & Patty Griffin (and the list continues to grow to this day). Over the past 5 years, she has played at various venues; bars, pubs, fundraisers, weddings, coffeeshops, house parties and golf clubs in the Edmonton and the Northern Alberta area. November 2012, she released her first EP titled, “Seasons” (available on iTunes). Throughout the past few years, Carmen has been teaching private Voice, Piano & Songwriting lessons as well as focusing on a lot of her own writing. She is currently working on a full-length album with lyrics to pull at your heart and melodies to give you the chills!
