Lara Yule Singh

Lara Yule Singh - vocals/guitar/banjo/looper and more....

Atmospheric futuristic folk tales; Lara Yule Singh's bold, new musical direction is theatrical, folk storytelling, but not everything here is as it seems. Heartful, yet subtly mysterious lyrics invite the listener to discover and explore new, inner landscapes. The Canadian songstress is diving deep into writing and recording a collection of polished gems, that will gently tug your ear and warmly invite you, "like a welcoming committee, saying come in, come in" (Luka Symons - CKUA Radio).

Sandra Sperounes (of The Edmonton Journal) describes Lara's music as "bright, sunny, and quirky" and says, "it will instantly put a smile on your face and lower your blood pressure." She also calls Lara's voice "the real kicker, filled with wide-eyed wonderment and old soul confidence." Cinematic, visceral, adventurous, and unflinchingly honest, Lara is spreading her proverbial wings to include a full span of folk, avante-garde, pop, rock, and blues.

Since her first solo performance in May of 2005, Lara has been honing her craft. Having played 100s of shows across Canada, she has developed into a sensitive, articulate performer. Lara has performed at many festivals, including Fred Eaglesmith's Southern Ontario Picnic, South Country Fair, North Country Fair, Night of Artists, Homefest, Pembina River Nights, and The Works. She has opened for Gaye Delorme, shared stage and tour van with singer/songwriter Alexia Melnychuk, and been featured on CBC Radio, CKUA Radio, Breakfast Television, and in Alternative Trends Magazine, to name a few.
