Witness the rise of the new Soldiers

It is with great pride and pleasure that I announce this years Metal Fest Line up. We feel it's time for our New Edmonton Metal Musicians to shine. Neither us nor them are paying to bring out some high profile act that may or may not deserve their notoriety. This year we draw attention to new and unsigned acts right here in our community. These boys and girls have faught and struggled and bled to bring you the best Metal music Edmonton has to offer! Support Loc

Sonorous Odium is a Melodic/Blackened death metal band hailing from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Drawing from inspiration spanning every spectrum of the darkest genres of music, Sonorous Odium has been honing their sound since the early months of 2006 and is currently composing their first full-length release. Through every variety of struggle they have persevered and grown in brotherhood, maturity, character and determination to craft the finest music and spread it as far as their are ears to hear it.
(We couldn't be more excited to have these Edmonton Metal Monsters as our headliners this year. They have what it takes to make an indelible mark on the music industry and I for one can't wait to say. "I knew those guys!")

Ides of Winter - Due to circumstances beyond our/their control Ides of Winter can no longer play this show.

This Is War - After sharing the stage with Canadian metal giants 3 Inches of Blood and Zimmers hole, playing hundreds of shows all over Canada, line up changes, serious health problems, and loosing loved ones these guys have somehow made it through. Life waged war on them but they couldn't simply lay down. This passion, intensity and "never say die" attitude come blazing through in their music. You cannot help but be filled with emotion when this six piece hits the stage. (on a personal note these fella's may not be new but they have certainly payed their dues and definitely deserve a spot on this show. Each member has waged their own war and come out the other side amazing people and talented musicians. It's an honor to call them friends and a thrill to have this amazing band added to the Metal Army bill!)

(These new comers to the scene have been making waves with their hard rock stylings...not quite as heavy as some of the others their blend of melodic vocals, growls, funky bass lines, screaming guitars and lightning fast drums just goes to show, you don't have to be all metal all the time...just got to be good at it)

(They are back and as bad ass as ever! In the grand tradition of other Edmonton based female fronted metal bands they prove that sex appeal, bad ass attitude and phenomenal talent can in fact go hand in hand...in hand!)
