Shari's career - through the Pied Pumkin, The Hometown Band, and on as a solo artist - continues to inspire audiences, and set the bar for two generations of female singer/songwriters.
A long-time mentor for Canadian writers, the two-time JUNO AWARD-winner and BC Entertainment Hall of Fame Inductee tours and records solo, and as a member of Pied Pumkin, Ulrich Henderson Forbes, Bentall Taylor & Ulrich and The High Bar Gang, performing on guitar, piano, violin, mandolin, dulcimer and harmonica. She has also produced the annual Vancouver Bluebird North concert series for 16 years. Her catalogue includes the independent LP’s Every Road, The View From Here, Find Our Way and The Best of Shari Ulrich. She has scored TV and documentaries for the National Film Board and hosted Futurescan, with David Suzuki, written and produced for Sesame Street and written and hosted BCTV’s Inside Trax. She starred in theatrical productions of Carole King’s Tapestry, wrote, and starred in Baby Boomer Blues, taught songwriting in the workshop setting and, at both Humber College and the University of British Columbia.
Shari’s “Annabelle’s Fiddle” from 2007"Pumkids" won the 2011 John Lennon International Songwriting Contest for Best Children’s Song. Her daughter Julia, 22, is a gifted violin, piano, guitar, accordion, and mandolin player, currently in Masters in Music Sound Recording at Montreal’s McGill University.
The voice of the classics “Flying,” “Feel Good” and “She Remembers” has been signed to worldwide record deals with A&M and MCA. Shari has played Maple Leaf Gardens and Greg & Georgette’s living room, and, everywhere in between and she is preparing for the release of her 20th album, later this year.
