Von Bieker plays bow tie rock to haunt your heart. Retro guitar twang sets a reverb-soaked soundstage for Von Bieker's resonant writing; his voice pushed until it cracks into free-fall falsetto. This is folk-rock dressed in style and substance, revealing influences ranging Bahamas to Jeff Buckley; Radiohead to the Talking Heads; Cockburn to Cohen. Von Bieker has been playing music in Edmonton since the late 90's when he wrote and performed as a naive teenager with Audience of One. For 10 years, he coordinated and wrote for Bridge Songs, an annual album and concert of original Edmonton music bringing together dozens of musicians, visual artists and writers. Von Bieker's latest four song EP, Where The Love Comes Easy, is available wherever fine music is sold or streamed.
Andrea Shipka is a St.Albert born, up and coming songwriter who brings together the worlds of roots, folk and pop to create her own unique sound. She has been performing since the age of 16 to audiences across western Canada. Some of her notable performances include performing at Big Valley Jamboree, Edmonton Expo and multiple events around the city. Her unique voice and lyrical stylings continues to draw people in with her messages of transition, loss and rising through adversity.
DRFTR is the one-man creation of singer/songwriter/guitarist Oscar Anderson-Shortt. His soaring, soulful voice is tinged with R&B; his songs honest, intimate and from the heart. His music is best described as feely folk - all about emotion. From lost love to sharp political commentary with all life’s gritty and joyous bits in between, DRFTR taps into our common emotional landscape in a deeply thoughtful, melodic way.
What began as a way to maintain a bit of sanity, of making sense of the things happening in his world, has evolved into a rich and diverse repertoire. Drawing from experience – growing up in small town Ontario, working the oil fields of Alberta, living in a South African village – DRFTR has created a portfolio of thoughtful, memorable and inspiring music.
His indie rock style has matured over the past 10 years, reflecting the influences of musical heroes Etta James, Hey Rosetta, Anderson Paak, John Mayer and Tom Misch. He has played alongside Craig Cardiff, Abigail Lapell, Jeremy Fisher, Jim Bryson and Claire Coupland, opened for Beth Moore at The Cameron House and headlined In the Soil Art Festival.
