:: OAKK ::
Branching across numerous genres, OAKK produces dynamic, eclectic, and infectious bass music that is impossible to resist. Based out of Calgary, Canada, and working closely with the illustrious Hifi Club, one of OAKK’s main priorities is building upon the already thriving electronic music community in his city. His weekly residency “New Wave” provides a platform for other like-minded individuals to have their sounds heard on a world renowned stage. Musically speaking, OAKK’s catalogue is surrealistically beautiful, rambunctiously energetic, and intellectually stimulating — it draws influence from some of the most forward-thinking working artists of today as well as the most timeless classics. An intense passion for music and community has brought OAKK to his current stage, and given him the tools needed to propel his creative endeavours.
:: SHINY THINGS ::
SHINY THINGS come from dirty places: rolling in rave dust since childhood, the colorful vibes awoken during prepubescent trips in the desert have transmuted into some of the future sounds of today. From the interior groves of the west coast, this one’s a contributor; when not on stage you’ll find him on the floor, with glistening wits and moves for days. Selections all with good taste, these hyphy but paced, futuristic but deeply rooted psychedelic sounds are delightfully hype at any hour.

:: PHATCAT LIVE ::
As founder of Alberta based Borealis Festival as well as Future Roots, Phatcat is well known for his lifelong contributions to Canada’s music community. Known as a “DJ’s DJ” - explorations of the ebb and flow between D&B, Footwork, Grime, and Rave combined with a evolving stew of his own productions are the hallmark of his devastating sets.
His rare live performances combine drum machines, analog samplers, and modular synth to create a completely all original sound rooted in 90’s jungle, acid house, dub techno, uk rave, and modern 808 bass music. Having just celebrated Future Roots' 13th anniversary, he is also an award winning sound designer and composer grinding steadily in the studio towards multiple projects in 2019, including growth of the Future Roots Label, solo modular material, new experimental theatre and dance projects, and and a followup release to his smashing remix of "Step Aside" on Inner City Dance.
: 40 OZ :
A local up and comer to the Edmonton electronic music scene, "40 oz." has been making his presence known spinning with local crew the United Bass Kollective for the last 6 years. Loving music from a young age Ryan Finlay was consistently involving himself in a music oriented lifestyle from school band to playing the guitar and drums in multiple bands and projects. After high school and some exposure to Edmonton's night life he quickly fell in love with the local electronic scene, bought a set of decks and got practicing. Producing music for the last few years has allowed him to develop a unique style that sets him apart from many of his peers and fellow producers.
: KEEKZ :
As the newest and youngest member of the Future Roots squad Keekz is no stranger to good taste. Taking inspiration from the amazing community around her, she spins a variety of sounds into a uniquely feminine, dynamic, and devastating blend of bass, soaring vocals and skanking riddims. Expect purely raw vibes.
