While this multi-­instrumental duo both completed the MacEwan Music Program, it was not until later at a basement venue (The Root Cellar) in 2011 that Sophie Heppell and Mary-­Lee Bird concluded that collaboration
was in order.

Both are members of various Edmonton based bands
(Cabana Bird, Two Bears North, Utopian Skank, Third
Branch, Dead Red Pine, and 780 Ska).

With Heppell on fiddle, guitar, and saxophone and Bird
on piano and trombone, the two songwriters blend with
an unconventional performing style and the odd comedic
display.
