Johanna Sillanpaa immigrated to Canada in the mid nineties from Sweden. She is a graduate of the Grant Macewan Music Programme as well as the Banff School of Fine Arts taught by the legendary Sheila Jordan and Jay Clayton. Her solo debut album Good Life was nominated for a 2007 Western Canadian Music Award for "Outstanding Urban Recording". Johanna Sillanpaa will be at Festival Place for her CD release of songs from her new album, Make of Me.
